BioVie is a clinical stage biotechnology company developing transformative therapies to overcome unmet medical needs in neurodegeneration and liver disease, in particular innovations to address Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s and Ascites/Cirrhosis.

PERSONAL INFORMATION YOU PROVIDE

If you are interested in participating in a clinical or observational study, we will need to collect certain information, including some personal information, to help us pre-qualify you. This information will include your name and contact information: email address, phone number and mailing zip code. We also may ask you to provide some biographical information, such as your sex, age, and birth date.

Depending on the nature of the study, we may also ask for some initial information regarding your current medical status and history. For example, we may ask if you have a specific medical condition and/or are currently taking certain prescriptions. We need this information to help us determine if you qualify for a specific study. This information may qualify as “sensitive” personal information or Protected Health Information under applicable law (including the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 in the United States).

To be considered for a study, you may be directed from this website to an online form to complete and, depending on your responses, you may then be contacted via telephone by a medical professional with follow-up questions. Even if you are not qualified for a specific study, we may contact you thereafter for other studies that you may qualify for.

Personal and other information you provide is kept strictly confidential and will not be shared or disclosed to a third party except as described in this Privacy Policy.

HOW WE USE AND SHARE YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION

We only have access to personal information that you voluntarily give us via email, on a web form or via other direct contact from you. We only use your information to pre-qualify you for your possible participation in a clinical or observational study.

We use contractors, service providers, and other designated third parties to . help us screen candidates and host our data, including personal information you provide to us to pre-qualify for a study. For example, when you are directed to an online questionnaire to complete, this form is hosted and managed by our service providers. We also use contractors to conduct any follow-up interviews with you. Only these authorized third parties will have access to your personal information and not BoVie. These third parties are contractually required to keep your personal information strictly confidential and secure.

In addition, we may share your personal information for the following reasons:

  • to comply with our legal obligations;
  • to a buyer or other successor in the event of a merger, divestiture, restructuring, reorganization, dissolution, or other sale or transfer of some or all of BioVie’s assets, whether as a going concern or as part of bankruptcy, liquidation, or similar proceeding, in which personal information held by BioVie about our Website’s visitors and email lists are among the assets transferred;

In addition, we may contact you via email or SMS/text to your mobile phone regarding your interest in a specific study or about a future study enrolling in your area that may be a fit for you or changes to this Privacy Policy. You have certain rights regarding the personal information you give us:

  • See what personal information we have about you, if any;
  • Change/correct any personal information we have about you;
  • Ask us to delete any personal information we have about you; or

SECURITY

We and our contractors, service providers, and other designated third parties take precautions to protect your information. If you are asked to complete an online form for a specific study, this online form and your responses are hosted on a portal, database and server compliant with HIPAA requirements and managed by a service provider we have engaged for this purpose. This service provider is contractually required to keep your personal information strictly confidential and secure. The computers/servers in which personal information is stored are kept in a secure environment, and all data is encrypted at rest and in transit.

Only employees who need the information to perform a specific job (for example, reviewing your information and submitting your information to a local clinical research site that may have a study for you) are granted access to personal information.

DATA RETENTION

We or our contractors, service providers, and other designated third parties will retain your submitted personal and other information until the study you applied for is complete, even if you are not selected for the study. We may want to contact you again if the study is extended to include additional participants or the inclusion or exclusion criteria for a study may change. During this time your personal information is retained, we also may contact you about other studies for which you may be eligible. Once the initial study you applied for or participated in is completed, we will delete your information from our records, if any, and direct our third-party service providers to do the same.
